Amanda Rungis & the Sure Optical Team

Amanda Rungis Owner & Principal Optometrist

My passion for Optometry and my passion for Small Business were born when I was 15 years old, while on work experience, in an independent optometry practice in Gordon NSW. I was inspired to study optometry & was very proud to be awarded a Bachelor of Optometry with honours from U.N.S.W in 1993. Motivated by providing the best patient care possible, I completed further studies and was awarded a Master of Optometry from U.N.S.W. in 2003. Hoping to encourage the younger generation of optometrists, the way I was inspired, I volunteer at U.N.S.W as a visiting supervisor for 4th & 5th (final) year students.

I consider myself very fortunate to be able to correct, enhance & protect my patients’ vision. The most rewarding experience is fitting OrthoK eratology or OrthoK . There is a real life changing moment when a person experiences seeing without the aid of glasses or contact lenses for the first time in years & sometimes for the first time in their life. I get the privilege of sharing that. There is also great professional pride in knowing that I am helping slow or stop the progression of short-sightedness in children, teenagers & young adults.

I am a member of the Optometrists Association Australia (OAA), the OrthoK eratology Society of Oceania (OSO), the Orthokeratology Academy of America (OAA), the Contact Lens Society of Australia (CLS), Provision Independent Optometrists & Wild Fig Service Alliance.

Sarah Tait Full-Time Optometrist

I am the newest member of the Sure Optical team. I have moved over from Auckland, New Zealand, where I studied Optometry at the University of Auckland and was awarded a Bachelor of Optometry with honours and therapeutic endorsement. I chose to work at Sure Optical as I wanted to work for an independent optometry practice that provided comprehensive vision care and put the needs of the patient first.

As a career Optometry is both challenging and rewarding, it is an exciting profession where improvements in vision care are continually being made. You not only have to understand the science behind the principles involved, you also require the skills to clearly and effectively communicate this information across to the patient. Most people regard vision as one of their most important senses, as an optometrist it's great to be able to directly influence and protect the health of something people value so highly.

At Sure Optical I am surrounded by passionate staff members who clearly love coming to work everyday and create a supportive work environment. Working here I feel that I can make a difference in the community and raise awareness about eye health.

I am a member of the Optometrists Association Australia (OAA).

Wendy Penn Patient Care Manager

As the Patient Care Manager, I ensure that you will be treated with care and efficiency each and every time you visit us at Sure Optical. I have been a member of the Sure Optical family since 2010, and my qualifications include a Certificate IV in Medical Administration, and six months chaplaincy training.

My personal connection to optometry came from my grandfather. He went blind due to macular degeneration, a tragedy that could have been prevented had he been diagnosed early on. For this reason, I deeply believe in the role that latest technology plays in early diagnosis of eye disease, and am excited that Sure Optical now offers OCT testing to our patients.

When it comes to choosing frames for your glasses, I believe that my creative side will encourage you to explore options you may not normally consider. I will always offer my honest opinion, based on my experience in frame selection, as to whether they suit or not.

I feel especially comfortable working with children, as I have had a lot of experience in child care and have had five children of my own. I am well practiced in making certain that when you have your child’s eyes tested at Sure Optical, they are welcomed into our practice and their pretesting experience will be relaxed and easy for even the most anxious of children.

Jenneth Graham Qualified Optical Dispenser
As a qualified optical dispenser, it is my pleasure to offer you a friendly and care-focused experience when you visit Sure Optical. I was recently awarded the prestigious Randwick TAFE MEdal in Optical Dispensing, having completed my studies in 2014 with First in Course honours. I have a passion for dispensing, a flair for frame selection, and adore working with our patients to meet their needs and requirements.

Having relocated to the Central Coast from Sydney in 2005, this position at Sure Optical has allowed me to return to optometry, and has proved to be happiest time of my working life, filled with camaraderie of both colleagues and patients. I also support the practice as a qualified graphic designer.

I bring a wealth of life experience, sense of humour and passion for service, believing that when we serve others we better the world around us. Working as a member of Sure Optical gives me the opportunity to make your eye testing as professional and friendly as possible, understanding that your sight and eye health go a long way to supporting your confidence and joy for life.

Having worked within a few different industries since leaving Sydney, returning to Optometry is like coming home. I look forward to meeting and serving you.
